Greetings dear readers (all 3 of you!). Jimmy and Marc have reached Salt Lake City! After almost 24 hours of nonstop driving, we made it through past Illinois (and chicago - more of that later), Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, and now Utah. Went to outback steakhouse in Iowa for dinner Friday night, met some nice folks who happened to have a son who lives near Allston! Small worldly type things. The ride to Salt Lake City seemed to take forever, but now that we're here (and well-rested, for once) there seems to be a nice vibrant feel to the city. There are gorgeous views of the area, and apparently Salt Lake City is surrounded entirely by mountains. The civic did NOT like going up all those inclines...

As for Chicago, we left on Thursday night from Michigan and stayed in Illinois til Friday night. Let us be not the first to say: Chicago traffic is awful. Not matter what the time of day. In, out, across, all the highways were semi-bumper-to-bumper.

We ended up staying at a KOA campsite on Thursday night, and on the way through Chicago, a killer lightning storm swept through Chicago and left a lot of rain. We almost slept in the car, but we ended up putting up the tent after the rain let up a bit. Then, of course, we were woken up at 3am by yet another round of crazy, insanely loud and windy lightning storm. We thought we were going to die.. fortunately we did not.
And also, Chicago closes zoos without any kind of reasoning or warning. However! Lake michigan was very beautiful..

We're going to see the Great Salt Lake today, and hopefully make it most of the way to sacramento today and tomorrow. I think we're gonna get a motel tonight..

We'll upload some photos later.. this hotspot is not acting kindly right now!

Glad all is well with you both...sorry to hear about the storms, but it sounds like you were real troopers...unlike myself who would've been in the car!! (Baby!) Be sure to post lots of pictures so we can get a true feel for the whole experience...I admire you guys...wish I would've taken some sort of adventure like this when I was younger. Keep your eye on the prize....Disney!! Don't let the rumors scare you ...go in there like you know someone...like you are someone...who knows??!! Good Luck!! Enjoy California..it is one of my favorite places to be. Also, I have a cousin that lives in LA (Uncle Bill's brother's son) who is always ready to show people around...he loves company...if you need some connections or advice or even a tour guide, let me know...I will call him!! Have FUN!!
